Il 4 dicembre 2003, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), festeggiava il lancio di Gran Turismo 4 Prologue, con il bundle "Racing Pack" che racchiudeva all'interno la speciale e limitata PlayStation 2 Ceramic White (SCPH-55000 GT) che richiamava la stessa tinta bianca della custodia e della copertina del gioco, progettati sotto la supervisione di Kazunori Yamauchi, produttore della serie Gran Turismo. Il bundle, oltre alla PS2 "Bianco Ceramica", includeva anche un Analog Controller DUALSHOCK 2 e una copia di Gran Turismo 4 Prologue. Separatamente Sony commercializzò, sempre a partire dal 4 dicembre 2003, anche gli Analog Controller DUALSHOCK 2 Ceramic White (SCPH-10010 CW), le Memory Card Ceramic White (SCPH-10020 CW) e il Vertical Stand Ceramic White (SCPH-10220 CW) da coordinare con questa speciale PlayStation 2.

Tokyo, November 4, 2003 – Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) responsible for business operations in Japan, announced today that it would release “PlayStation®2” Racing Pack, a limited offering for this winter. This Racing Pack contains Gran Turismo®4 “Prologue Version”, which is the single cut version of Gran Turismo 4, the latest of the Gran Turismo franchise, and specially colored PlayStation 2, and will be available on December 4th, 2003, the same date the title is released, at the recommended retail price of 22,000 yen (excluding tax).
Gran Turismo franchise holds top class sales on PlayStation® and PlayStation 2 platforms, achieving combined shipments of more than 33 million units around the world. It enjoys worldwide popularity among game users and also earns high reputation from professional car racers as a real-life driving simulator. “PlayStation®2” Racing Pack is a special limited model containing Gran Turismo 4 “Prologue Version” and PlayStation 2 “Ceramic White” specially colored based on the white image color of the title. The carton box of this product as well as the title jacket is originally designed under the supervision of Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the Gran Turismo franchise.
Separately sold Analog Controller DUALSHOCK®2, Memory Card, and Vertical Stand of the same color will also become available, enabling users to color coordinate with PlayStation 2. With PlayStation® and PlayStation 2, SCEJ will create and develop a new world of computer entertainment for the broadband era through the fusion of game, music, movies, and broadcasting.
